It was in a city called Antioch that the disciples were, for the first time, called Christians. For the early followers of Jesus Christ that label of being called a Christian made them readily identifiable as believers. Fast-forward to the 21st century and we find many “labels” that those who profess the Christian faith proudly wear. Lost beneath the labels that many identify themselves with is the simple message of the cross. To be called a Christian seems to not be enough. Being labeled a certain type of believer draws more notice.

Jesus deserves all glory, because apart from Him we can do nothing. What distinguishes you as being a Christian? Do you need a certain identifier to go along with or go in front of the Christian title? When you are known more for the label that governs your belief and not for the fact of serving in the one body, and having the one Spirit, called to the one hope, then it is no mystery why you miss the mark of belonging to the one Lord, one faith, one God and Father of us all.

When Jesus was being lied on, abused, and put on trial, one thing we as Christians should take note of is when He was asked, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the living God?”, Jesus stood on who He was! When you find yourself being put on trial by the world, how will you answer?

Are you a Christian, a child of the living God?
